Biography

"Spanish Tin Works"

William and Luann Garcia are self-taught artists raised in Santa Fe and married in Pecos, New Mexico. While living on their family's ranch in the northern New Mexico village of Ojo de la Vaca, they discovered the work of Jose Maria Apodaca (1844-1924). They were inspired to pursue their own creative traditional tinwork using their own handmade dyes, stamps, and one of a kind patinas.

William works as the supervisor of construction at the Poeh Museum in Pojoaque, and it is his extensive building background that has allowed him to incorporate tinwork into the unusual architectural mirror frames, door casings, light sconces, and other interior design pieces in their collection. Luann is a homemaker caring for their two children, her garden, their animals, and refining her craft during the day. William and Luann's love of home, family, God, and the land are expressed in their art. They wish to share this tradition with all.

Their work is in several private homes such as George Rivera, Governor of Pojoaque, and Joel and Christine McHorse. Their work is also displayed and available at the Montez Gallery, the O Eating House, and their home.
